Part Time Work for International Students inThe UK

The Tier 4 (General) Student Visa, by default, comes with a work permit for international students. This work permit though, comes with a set of hardcore rules:

  • Students studying at a degree level or above may work a maximum of 20 hours per week during term time.
  • Students of language centers are allowed to work a maximum of 10 hours a week during term time.
  • Full-time work is permitted during vacations and holidays.
  • Self-employment is not allowed.

Due to immigration rules being very strict in the UK, even non-immigration visa holders, like those with Tier 4 Student Visa, are affected. Resultantly, non-compliance to the rules will get international students deported and their visas revoked.

Finding part time work is quite easy too. Almost all universities and colleges will have notice boards with advertisements of on-campus job vacancies. The university or college websites should also be convey information about similar openings. For off-campus jobs, students usually look into nearby cafes, stores, bookstores, clothing stores, etc. There are countless opportunities for students who look for part time work in the UK.
