Student Visa Process in Sweden

The visa process should be started by the April 2020, for September 2020 intake. The student visa applications for Sweden can only be started once accepted into a university. In order to prove your eligibility, you need to:

  1. Proof of enrollment
  2. Bank Statement (provide at least 3 months statement) and Solvency Certificate
  3. Valid Passport
  4. Visa Application (Single applicant -1000 SEK ; spouse 1000 SEK more and child under 18 year 500 SEK more)

Pre-departure Checklist

Important things to ensure before leaving for Sweden:

  • Book airline tickets
  • Arrangement of accommodation
  • Arrangement of transport to home in Sweden from the airport
  • Check baggage and customs policy

Documents that you must have on you before leaving for the airport:

  • Passport
  • UT- Card
  • Airline tickets
  • Letter of Acceptance (the one sent by the university or college)
  • Key addresses and phone numbers
  • The bank statement evidencing the required funds
  • Prescriptions for any medication you might be carrying
  • Cash or traveler’s cheque
  • Past certificates and transcripts evidencing previous education

During/Post Study Options

On completion of Master’s degree, students may be permitted to apply for a post-study work visa that may extend their stay to up to two years. International students are more than eligible to work full time with a legal work permit in Sweden, after completion of 30 ECTS in their Master program for which they have received admission. Student’s dependents can also work full-time in Sweden and children going to school can receive education and day care facility for absolutely ‘Free of Cost’.
